Made in Taiwan by one of the world's leading manufacturers of overlockers and coverstitch machines, the Merrylock MK480 is the first overlocker to feature an LED illuminated looper threading area. Combined with their award winning looper threading system and automatic tension release facility, the MK480 takes the frustration out of threading.
The sleek lines, soothing matte finish and precision build quality are complemented by the smooth and quiet operation. The super slim free-arm design accommodates the smallest of sleeves and cuffs and easy access to the differential feed, stitch length and width adjustments make the MK480 a pleasure to use.
The front cover incorporates a well-planned on-board accessory storage compartment and also activates a safety shut off if left open. The handy fabric waste bin also clips perfectly into place to keep your work area tidy. The top-drive cutting blade system helps prevent accidental fabric jams and offers simple disengagement as does the one-touch chaining finger for quickly converting to and from rolled hemming.

Amazing overlocker!
By: Helen on 15 July 2024I did a lot of research when I decided to buy my first overlocker, and eventually landed with a Merrylock. After using it for about a month or so I can say it definitely does not disappoint. It has all the features and more compared to overlockers at the same price point from other major overlocker brands. I took the Merrylock to an in-person 'Introduction to Overlocker' class, and it stitched so beautifully compared to the other entry-level machines in the class. The teacher who has never seen the machine before was also amazed at how easy it was to turn it into a rolled hem, the easy threading, and how well it performed on different types of fabrics. It is such a joy to use and has reignited my passion for sewing. I always look forward to using it and enjoy the professional finish I can now achieve on my projects.

Perfect stitching ... when I get it right
By: Mandy on 20 June 2023I'm still learning this machine. Sometimes I get a big ball of thread at the start of the seam before it kicks in and feeds the fabric. The foot lever works in the opposite to every machine I've ever had and doesn't rise very high so I have had some issues with the foot still being up and the stitching a shambles. Because the foot rises so minimally, it looks like it's engaged when you put fabric under it. I have learned that if the fabric doesn't feed normally, that I've done it again! So easy to thread. Love the light down under. Absolutely love the free arm ... one of the main reasons for buying this machine. I was so sick to death of pricking myself with pins when doing sleeve cuffs .... no more injuries :) Beautiful stitching when I do get it right :) I bought the extension table and feet. Extension table is fantastic for taking the weight off (less stretching) when sewing heavier fabrics. Practice will make perfect :)

A dream to use!
By: Louise on 18 May 2023I've had my Merrylock for a little while now - thought I should get to know it, and use it before reviewing! It is a wonderful machine, with a great price tag! The reverse presser foot lifter still catches me out at times, but that's no big deal as there are so many other features that I love. Its a breeze to thread with its led lights, lower looper aid and needle threader (watch Gary's video on threading if you don't know what I'm talking about!) The free arm is great and I use it all the time for sleeves, etc. I've owned other 'big name' overlockers and I have found the Merrylock to be the easiest and quickest to get a perfect stitch, whether it is standard 4 thread, 3 thread seam finish or a 2 stitch rolled chiffon hem. Love it!
