BONUS ITEMS! Buy Softlight CoreSpun Poly/Cotton Sewing Thread Box Set - Set of 10 & receive these for free!

Soft Light CoreSpun Poly/Cotton thread is fantastic for use in any sewing project. This thread is a polyester filament wrapped with cotton. That means you get the best of both worlds: the durability and strength of polyester, and the excellent sewability and feel of cotton!

It has amazing stitch formation, is less affected by static, and doesn’t suffer from stretch like a pure polyester thread. That means you can sew away, with less concern for puckering and fabric displacement. Plus, the cone of the spool is designed to give you great thread delivery.

The 10 colours in this bundle include:

  • 001 Black
  • 002 White
  • 003 Off White
  • 004 Beige
  • 005 Warm Grey
  • 006 Grey
  • 007 Dark Grey
  • 008 Red
  • 009 Blue
  • 010 Green

Each spool contains 1000m of Poly/Cotton sewing thread. Take advantage of the flexibility and longevity, as well as the natural look and feel of these threads!

Leaves a lot of lint

By: Carolyn on 6 January 2024
I started my sewing journey using Birch threads, but as I became more experienced i upgraded to Gutermann threads and found them to be high quality but expensive, so was eager to try the Softlight Corespun when i received the kit of this thread with my new machine from Echidna, and although I have not had any issues with breakage, I have noticed that it leaves a lot of lint in my machine when sewing. I will continue to use up what I have, but have reverted back to Gutermann thread for reliable, low lint sewing.

Echidna Sewing Response
Hi Carolyn, thanks for your review on our Softlight Corespun Thread. It is a Poly/Cotton corespun thread which in simple terms means it consists of a polyester centre wrapped in cotton. Unfortunately all Cotton will always leave some degree of lint when compared to a 100% spun polyester. However the benefits are that a Polycotton corespun thread has more resistance to needle heat and the effects of static electricity which is a common reason for missed stitches on synthetic fabrics. It is particularly good for coversticth needles where sewing speeds are a little higher and often on high stretch synthetic fabrics where missed stitches are also very common.. But of course Gutterman is also a very good polyester thread and we appreciate you giving it a go and taking the time to provide feedback.

I love these threads and think they are just as good if not better than Rasant, I even tried it on the long arm quilter and it was perfect.
